Go Up Go Down

Hi all. The weather is turning here and it gets dark before I get home from work, so that leaves the weekends. My son & I had a few competetive outings again, and had a ball.
One weekend we hit a park with a fishing hole/beach area.
He dug a silver charm bracelet, with 4 925 charms, a billiard token,a small silver ring, lot's of clads and plenty of pulltabs. I came in with a baseball token, some fishing stuff, a mans ring and clads & tabs.
Another weekend we hit the beach, (without the hotties this time)a park and then back to the old elementary school site to see if we could pull more old coins. At the beach he was beating me with finds, but as we readied to go, I swept one small grassy area near the sand...bingo! Cheesy A gold ring with 2 small opals, and then 3 feet away..bingo! Cheesy a small 925 ring! Then a toy plane. Beat him again!
We left for the school& we started sweeping the open field near the school, and he hit a pocket of 5 wheaties from the 40's. I know there is more out there, but it's a huge field area.He also found a crushed man's ring with some sort of stone roman head on it. I was falling behind in my finds, clads & tabs, then a very small 925 heart with a red ruby stone, then a religious medal then, almost time to go...bingo! Cheesy I dug a 1945 quarter! What a day!
We packed it up and called it a day, but it sure is fun detecting with someone, really turns it up! Next weekend, if the weather permits, my grandson wants to come along again. Should be a great time!
Thanks for looking and hope everyone has a great week!

Rich Detecting

Thanks for the compliments! It's always fun sharing what we pull out of the ground, you just never know what turns up!
The weather is getting colder for sure, but this weekend it's supposed to be in the upper 50's, still can dig! Got a nice thin pair of gloves, hoody and jean jacket and pull-over cap. The Garrett big headphones act like earmuffs...good to go! Cool Just put fresh batteries in and ready for Saturday! The days are dwindling. Sad
I'm gonna go stir crazy this winter...gotta hit the libraries and such. I've got a feeling it's going to be a looong winter!

Great finds!!! It is also the best when you have your kids with you... My dad and I did just about everything together.  Very special memories... I wish we had found Metal Detecting then.  Good luck with future finds!

Thanks dan & sharon. It is the best hobby I've ever gotten involved in! Cheesy
Mike....you certainly were right. I was skeptical about ever finding anything of "extra" value, like gold, but you called it! I'm having a blast in my "rookie" year. When the snow flys, I'm going to lay out all my treasures and take a photo with me, my detector and my finds. Gotta document my first year. Hope to have many, many more...providing my knees hold up! Smiley
