I see your point. So it wasnt bad but it did rain! Any idea what scrap iron is worth? I have a pile of it from the RR station and other places.

I never dump any unwanted finds scrap bits of lead , bits and pieces of copper or brass. Collect them all take them home separate into different box and when that box is heavy enough take those boxes to the scrap metal merchant. Get those items weighed in and watch the money come your way...It helps to pay for those detecting items you need.

It all depends on the buyer, I think. I recommend you to take a sample and let them decide. I just read that RR steel is of good quality and is heavy.

Yes, it's heavy! I found a nut maybe 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 and it must weigh close to a pound.
