Go Up Go Down

It's been raining pretty much the last two weeks, so I have not been able to get out as much as I would have liked, but after finding the notes last night in the book, I was feeling lucky and decided that rain or shine I was going out with my ol Grand master hunter CX11, looking at the weather radar the sky west of me looked rain free, so i figured yep it'll just be wet on the ground. Well somebody forgot to tell the rain, that it wasn't supposed to be  there. Instead of the rain coming from the west as it has the rest of the week, it decided to turn round and come from the east. So i said to myself, " self it's just a shower ". I asked the wife to drive me into town and drop me and my pushbike off in the city. I could tell by her tone that she thought I was an idiot for going out in the weather, but as I said I was convinced it would be only a light shower. I had been at the park about 2 minutes when I got my first signal, which turned out to be a piece of old glazed clay pipe, the reason I started where I did was a few weeks ago I had found an Australian 1 cent piece just sitting on the surface, which I thought was kinda unusual because 1 and 2 cent pieces were withdrawn from circulation quite some time ago, in Australia. considering the fact that it was quite weathered, but on the surface of the ground, made me curious. chucking the piece of broken pipe in my bag I continued my search, One thing that needs to be explained the inland Sunami that hit Australia last year originated in my town and where I was searching was one of the spots that the water started to build up, and also the first place it tried to claim me my wife and my son, ( but that's another story ) so i figured when the water went through, it had taken a lot of the loose lighter surface dirt with it. With that in mind it made sense why the coin was on the surface and led me to believe that where their was one coin, surely there were more. anyway I was slowly working my way around the base of a tree when I heard the noise that I have come to realise is the sound made by Australian Coins which are mostly made from a composition of copper and nickel, so they all pretty much make the same noise except I had got multiple signals. I got out my trowel and began to lightly scrap away the top layer of soil literally a couple of mm's later and I could see not one but 3 coins, as these were being picked up i saw a couple more then more, and more and more. as fast as I could pick them up more appeared, as i began to dig it became obvious that these were not there by chance. so far i have seen the date on only one 20 cent piece which is 2004 so they are not from some long forgotten buried treasure, but due to the wetness of the soil and the fact the soil is red dirt it was turning into a mess very quick, so i grabbed what I could as the rain was fairly pouring and my MD was getting soaked so i have left it for drier weather when I shall return for the rest the MD was going nut's when i left and considering the batteries are nearly dead flat, i am assuming there are plenty more waiting for me i left with a total of,
31, 5 cent coins
19, 10 cent coins
9,   20 cent coins
Cant wait for it to dry up so i can go and clean it all up properly, the thing that makes me most curious of all is how they came to be there ?

None recently but funnily enough there were several banks just up the road same thought had occurred to me. the years of the coins are fairly scattered i was beginning to wonder as i was looking at the 5 cents pieces and quite a few 2005 were showing up but only 7 it turned out so not enough for a mint roll.
If a Gun/knife shows up in the dig I'll be calling the coppers and they can take over the dig.

And the winner is ( insert drum roll here ) cache, yep it's just an ordinary bike. that one pedals or when restricted to footpath's ( sidewalks ) you have to Push. not sure if that how it got its name or not. but yea just a normal Bicycle.

I just reread that post and had to have a chuckle, because where it says i got the wife to drop me and my pushbike off, i was going to write  " so i chucked my pushbike in the Ute and had the Mrs drop me off but figured it would be the word " Ute " you guy would have trouble with so i rewrote it. A Ute is what you guys call a pickup truck bout the size of Earls El Camino in the TV show.

Thanks for the edification about the pushbike. I hope you find more in that cache. Keep it up until it's drained.
