Thanks again for the nice replies to this post!

I did some research and found that my own yard had some history to it and did a little digging on Monday night. Found a silver ring with what looks like a moss agate stone in the center, a monogrammed clip, small women's gold plated watch (with initials monogrammed on the back) and a 1942 walking Liberty 50 cent piece! I'm quite certain there's more in there so I'll be doing some more searching on my next day off.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Go Up Go Down

I use to do some detecting back in the 80`s.  I just got back into it  in August of this year. Guess what I bought for a new detector? A Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 pro.  I have been working a local park that has an event called arts in the park and it draws in around 50,000 people for the 2 day event. Park has been around since the late 1800`s. I was told a club use to come and spend 3-4 days with a number of people working the park. I work fulltime for the state and also have a part time job so only get out a bit on the weekends. So far probably a couple hundred clad coins but not much for older coins. I have found 4 rings though.  Kind of thinking it has been worked real hard as only a couple silver dimes and a couple wheat pennies. But no matter what each time get a hit always think this could be the big find. I have never seen anyone else working any of the parks in my area with a dectctor. Just found this site today... Cheers  Rich

Those are some very nice finds. I have a question for you or anyone reading this. How did you find the marbles with a metal dector? LOL

Finding marbles while you are metal detecting is actually pretty common.    Most people I know don't focus their attention on the digital read out of the their detector.   Instead, they are constantly scanning their surroundings (if for no other reason than to avoid snakes and poison ivy)....that means they notice things like marbles that they wouldn't normally see.
