Xterra 705 w/ 5x10 hz coil
« on: March 27, 2011, 12:45:03 am »
Go Up Go Down

I finally got to take my xterra 705 out and put is to good use. So far i have only detected areas around my house. The findings in the thread came from a community park across from my house. This is the park. I only searched the area with wood cheaps.
{alt}
There are two areas like this in the picture. The second one is in the back ground. Here are the findings'
{alt}
This pic is of the small objects I found.
{alt}
Here is a little story. Yesterday I hit a spot that had multiple targets very close together. The 705, with patience and attention, announced every one of them, three in all. I dug the shallowest first. A penny at roughly one inch. I rechecked the hole to confirm the other targets were in facts targets and not faults signals. Yep, two more left. I dug the second. A nickel at roughly three inches. Again, I rechecked the hole. One more target to go. It at roughly  was a bit weaker signal and was at the 6-8 inch mark. I dug down to the depth checked for it. Still in the hole. I dug a little more. Checked the hole.This time it was out of the hole. I searched though the pile of dirt I had next to me. I heard the signal but could not find it. After two minutes of swiping increasingly smaller handfuls of dirt over the coil I found it. To my surprise......it was a staple! A single staple at roughly 8 inches.

So, there you go. Admin, if the pics are too large please let me know. I will be more than happy to reduce them.

Satt

The housing I live in is relatively new, maybe 4-6 years. I do think that I am the first person in a long time, if not the very first, to beeper swing that area and.........we have a dozen parks just like that one on base Cool

I will say that hunting in the parks has been a great place to learn what I'm doing. A wide, never ending  variety of targets and ground that is easy to dig.

Cache.....yep. Always thought I'd like detecting. And....I do! My wife doesn't like it so much though. I try to set a specific amount of time I will detect and always have a hard time stopping. I hate to walk away from an area that I haven't completed yet. So I stick around the area just a little longer. When I do make it back home my wife is  Club "what took so long!"

I have a feeling that is going to be exactly how it is going to happen. I already have the "yes dear" part. Now I need to find an area with a buried treasure chest Wink

Hey, Satt....make sure you carry pictures of those staples and other pieces of dangerous junk with you when you hunt those tot lots.  Makes hunting the areas far more hassle free.
