found a nice spoon while lookin for arrowheads in my back yard!
looks really good! i cleaned the dirt off and noticed writing on it. "rhode island" on the neck and the back of the neck has a date of "feb. 25 1915"  with the name "wm rodgers and son AA" some sort of memorial spoon?  pretty awesome first find! i found this in the first 10 mins of looking! Yeah!
i didnt wanna clean it too much just had to get the name but its really clean.. it was black when i found it.
hope you like it!

That's a nice find - no doubt a silver spoon since it was black when you found it. I like the anchor design on it. Looking for arrowheads in your backyard? That's neat - ever find any?

Looks like a souvenir spoon to me.   I think the one at this link is a match to yours:

Seems like at all of the old homesteads Ive searched theres a very fine line between the home and the dump!  Oh well, one mans trash is another mans treasure... Smiley

How large is the lot and are there any straight lines that you can't explain?     Also, how old is the current house?

Depending upon the answer, it's possible you're right in thinking there was another house....but then again there could be other explanations also.   That's part of the draw of the hobby (at least for me).   Every find brings lots of questions.
