I start with a paste of baking soda and water. Put in the palm of one hand and rub the coin gently with your finger. Silver will clean up real nice. Note>> it will take off any "antique patina".

I'll try baking soda. I tried silver cleaning solution and it didn't work. That's why I think is not a metal patina

I bought a microscope less than a year ago and love it.  I got it for checking out stool samples of my dogs since I have been breeding a couple of pairs.  Bugs like coccidia (sp?)s are easy to spot after a little experience.  Worm eggs are easy to spot as well and it does not make sense for me to pay for vet visits due to simple issues.

Good idea. I own a microscope because I'm a biology teacher. But put it away after I left teaching a few years ago. I let u know of my findings.

Have you tried a mild chlorine solution?

You mean clorox or muriatic acid?

Bleach (clorox) This may turn it black but that can be cleaned easily.

Well, that's a horse of a different color! Put it into your aquarium with some snails. Good algae eaters.

Yeah, I know but, snails like to eat fresh vegetables, although I'd would be offering the algae on a silver plate and maybe they'd like my fancy  Laughing

Garden snails wouldn't but those that live in an aquarium normally stick to the glass and eat the algae all day long. You could drop it in the middle of a culture of paramecium to see how they go. There are tons of biological special agents you could put to work on it and they would lick that silver platter clean, mate.
