It looks like your machine is working.  You will have a great find soon at the rate of discoveries your making. Once  at a park my machine read pull tab on a target. it turned out to be a antique gold ring with a 1/4 kt diamond. About a $400 ring new. From that day on i always dig every tab target.

Cool!
Any day that isn't just pull tabs is great.
I love finding the strange things like paint can lids. You're out in the middle of a cow pasture and pull something like that up and think, how in the hell did that get here  Huh?.

Hi Cap
Your're doing ok on your first dig , when I upgraded to  my new detector I got nothing the first day there were so many signals I gave up in frustration because I thought my detector was lying .  Went home to do a bit more reading about settings and stuff like that .

Thanks for all the nice comments. I've gotten about 20 hours under my belt now and I'm beginning to understand the different signals/tones from my machine. I'm having a ball with my little Ace250! Even in my down time, I read and re-read some of my books, always seem to pick out some more tips. The biggest blunder I did early on, was to discriminate out the pulltabs...only to read here and in my books...I was missing out on any gold ring finds! Now, I'll re-visit some of the areas I earlier hit, just in case!

Cap
I keep going over the same patch after I've made any new settings just to see if it made any difference , and suprising most times it does . Its the only way to learn your detector .

very tiny kiddie rings come up as foil --women sized small rings as pulltabs -- big mens rings / class rings as nickles --if your hunting gold  Wink --- to cut out modern zinc cents --notch out the cents icon -(but only in places were your sure there are no indain head cents as they often come under the "zinc" cent setting as well )---now older copper cets pre 1982 to 1909 will often rung up under the dime with the "zinc" cents notched out -- a copper cent and a clad dime have a very similar metal id due to the copper core of the clad dime.  Smiley

your finding coins thats a start -- the ace 250 can find good stuff its simply a matter of getting the coil over it . -- keep a it --research will equal bigger / better finds over time.
