My wife met meet the park. Tried and liked detecting.  Detecting Before she got there I found this ring. It had a guard on it and I couldn't see any K on it. But when I got it home, I removed the guard, and ther it was, 14K. We took it to a jewelers who didn't seem inpressed. He made me an offer, but I declined. I could tell my wife was annoyed  Club. Then we went to a local pawn shop that offered 2.5 times what the jeweler offered. I think my wife is still in shock. She's know fully in favor of my hobby Grin

Hi frazdad,
Congrats  Clapp on your very nice find! it looks to be an
antique setting from the looks on the picture, And one thing to remember
one gives you an offer, then another person offers you twice as much,
you can almost guarentee its worth a whole lot more! Just wait until your wife finds something, Then you will have unleashed  an adventurious person, and it wil be like """ Are you ready to go detecting YET!  Funny. thanks for sharing your find. Look forward to reading more of your posts about your hunts & finds.
Best Wishes & Happy Hunting.....Rob

You made a nice score there with that ring & while she was with you, that's great!

It's always a great thing when both husband & wife enjoy a mutual hobby together, it helps reignite the flames of marriage a tad I would think. When the kids also take an interest, then you've got something the whole family can enjoy together.

Congratulations Frazdad,  Great
Jim

Now you've got that mojo baby!!  I can fully appreciate the value of a peace offering for the wife!  For that reason, I will be digging up those low percentage gold/trash targets from now on because the pile of pull tabs and foil is worth the hassle.

Also, it does not hurt to occasionally remind her that other hobbies actually cost money as opposed to the occasional profit that we will make with our detectors.

Hang on to that mojo!!  It's a streaky thing fer sure!

Thanks Tri, She knows that I'm not going to hit gold every time. As I've said in earlier posts I didn't find any gold or silver in my first three years swinging the detector. Now in the last two years I've found 3 gold rings, two silver rings, a silver bracelet and a few silver coins. It just goes to show you the more practice you get the more you find.

By the way the ring I found registered as nickel on my F2

My 505 registers gold as a nickel/ pull tabs but pieces of beer cans and foil cans turn up on that ID as well.  Unfortunately, kids seem to have a need to pull of the modern can tabs and we have to deal with those as well.

It is good to see your better half giving the hobby a chance.  Mine just does not get into it when she can mess around with her plants, etc.  Best of luck keeping your's into the hobby.
