Go Up Go Down

More detecting at the old implement shed at my mother in laws several weeks ago. Soaked in olive oil as it had something like tar on it.  September Morn watch fob - at least that's what I think it is. Nothing on the back.

Hey Sweet Sue,
That really is a cute find, with a touch of old world charm.
Nice an' unusual find.
W/D that lady.

Your "old world charm" comment, Ian, caused me to do a search for September Morn on google. It was a 1912 painting from France that caused a controversy across the US, when hung in an art gallery window here. "Too little morn and too much maid"  Smiley It was reproduced on a variety of items - even postcards, but the post office forbid the mailing of them. Thanks for inspiring me to look it up as now I know the history and a time frame. Sue

Hey that's great managing to get the background on that lovely little item.
So, now it's a super wee keeper.

I would have thought that the length of the slot at the top suggests it may have hung from a leather strap kinda like a horse brass.
(Just my own thoughts.)

It may well have been used for that purpose. I don't really know. Agree that it's now a "super wee keeper" - esp with a little background info on it. Smiley
