Ok what did I find not heavy, at least to me. The small nugget is 0.9g and the "large" nugget is 10.0g. I think it is aluminum if that is possible.  Thanks for any leads as to what I might have.

I'm thinking A Can that was toasted in a camp fire.

Put a drop of Lye on it.

Aluminum will boil.    Wise

I found out about that stuff myself. It's called "canslaw". Mine looked and responded like a piece of silver. Was exciting for a bit. Thank God we have sites like this where the learned share their knowledge. It has helped me quite a bit.

It's always fun to find something. :-)

I find those globs of aluminum once in a while. I imagine that they were used when construction was in the process. I find them in tot lots and near schools. They are aluminum. Once in a while I find some that are heavy and seem to be made of silver. I figure it's some type of solder that they use.

cornfed, Yea, homefire is probably right. melted can. First one I found was melted on to a pea size piece of gravel. I thought I found a tooth!...Melted aluminum tells you something about the ground you are hunting in. It may have been a trash pile. Depending on size and shape, they can be identified as a ring, pull tab or coin. with my ACE 150 . ..Zinc and lead are also low melting metals that I have found in "ground nuggets". I was searching a burned out house site and came across globs of lead. very heavy and white like a musket ball and zinc or pot metal globs, lighter and highly corroded. The highly corroded potmetal looks not unlike some silver ore I saw in Gunnison Colorado. The difference being when you scrape all the corrosion off you have shiny metal inside.

I think that the "larger" nugget was a can because of the size. The small one is from something!! LOL. I do not think the area was a trash dump because of the area and the terrain, mountains and valleys foot access only. So, come to think of it they both are probably cans from lazy people that can not carry out their garbage.

What does lye act like on aluminum, do not have any lying around and too cheap to by it to find out for myself at this time. If it gets all crazy I might spend the money for the entertainment of it!!

Where did you find it....Huh?  Is that area known for it's high grade silver??  Or was this found around some older buildings or something like that???

Yes Silver nuggets are rare.... I've seen lots of silver over the 30 plus years mining for gold, in my sluice box, but no silver nuggets..... usually raw silver ore has a deep purple to a deep maroon..coloration... and most silver comes in an ore form, or mixed with another element....like Galena as an example.....

In the Clark mountains of the California / Nevada border.. I've seen such pure silver ore..very deep purple in color...when heated in a crucible..the beautiful shinning silver bubbled up from the ore...it was amazing...

If it is silver..most likely it has been refined and was re-melted in a fire at some time by accident...But most likely, you'll find it is something other than silver....

Take it an assyor ... they will be able to tell you what it is...

Good Luck,

Kondike  Ike
