I got permission to hunt an old church that also had an old single room school house that burnt down in the 1950's. The church was origianly built in the 1880. It is also the local community center. What was great about this sight was there were no pull tabs, but it had tons of bent nails and fencing staples. I had to run my E-Trac  in manuel sens. wide open with just a couple of line of iron mask. Most coins were at least 8 inches deep. These were just the solid hits. I know there are bunches more in the 12+ inch range. Lots of good masked signals. My best finds in months, my oldest wheaty 1915. The nickle is a 1943 P. The Indian is 1900. 2 1935 mercs, and one 1946 rosie[great] I found other artifacts that I turned over to the church. I also found $2.53 in clad. I was also told that there is an old hand dug well at the back of the property.  Detecting

Great finds Todd...........Those old churches usely produce pretty good. I'm planning on hunting one soon, it's not on land anymore, washed over board into the river about hundred years ago.. Which detector did you use this time?  John in Va.

John I used my E-Trac and I had a friend using my F5. Mike, I soak all my good copper coins in Tabasco for about 15 minutes and I rub them clean with Bar Keepers Friend. It still leaves a little patina around the numbers and in the deeper depresions. I usualy dont clean coins until I get home, but I had a crowed of people from the church wanting to see everything. They fed us cokes and cookies so we cleaned every thing. I also told them that I would display the coins on the internet and they were all fascinated by that and wanted to know where they could see the coins. They told me to come back when ever I wanted. Great

Great finds. New to the hobby and was wondering about your comment on the old well. Is that a good placeto look? We have a few old wells on our property dating back to the mid 1700's

Yes
An old well means an old home. Look for a small stand of trees near by or a hill top. Search all around the well. Dont discriminate anything dig everything.

Good Luck
Todd
