Go Up Go Down

Made it to the beach two days ago, but the finds are so-so. Got six nails, two big ones believed from a wooden ship wreck and the rest normal nails. A pull tab, a lead sinker and a spent medium-sized artillery shell canister probably remnants from WWII, (judging by the age of corrosion on the canister).

I was impressed with the Ace 250 performance on the highly mineralised saltwater ground. Got the sinker at the depth of more than 8" depth with sensitivity level set two bars near the minimum. Same depth too with the artillery canister. The nails were found at the surface around 2" and 4" depth. The superb performance of the MD really puts a smile on the face, Kiss it is just a matter of more luck next time to get a good find. Amen

Thanks for some of the advice and tips that I got from all of you as well.  Waveing HH.

Nice job with the ACE! Your finds look like mine from the beach...I have yet to find a gold ring or much in the way of amazing treasures. Lots of iron nails, and junk.
Good luck next time! Smiley

Hello farmdigger, Hello Tabdog,

Not really sure of the age of the nails, but it sure has a thick rusty crust. One thing for sure the salinity level in the hot tropical climate like ours can turn iron to rust fast.

But I like the artillery canister it has a bit of shine to it. I'm not so sure if its pure brass or copper. Anyone here has any knowledge on artillery shells?
 Cool HH

Hay Yoda,

I would have never figgered out what that
artillery canister was?

The spikes do have a look of being off an
old ship wreck. They appear hand made for
a spaciffic purpose. That would likely be the
construction of a ship.

Neat finds  Cool

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
