I agree with CCSportsdad.   Even though I have not personally used the Teknetics Delta 4000, it is on the short list of detectors I think serious beginners/intermediates with a limited budget should check out before making a decision.

Hey cool finds there! I've MD around my back yard a couple of times, and like you lots of scrap junk.  A couple of times I found the back-end of a 12-ga shotgun shell casing! So, I'm guessing it could have been them shooting off coyotes, or dogs tearing into chickens, or who knows what!

As far as the specs go it looks pretty good, Plus I like the dual headphone jacks and that it only uses 1 battery. So far Ive only heard of one person who had one and didnt like it very well (but they had much nicer detectors to play with) If I can find a good used omega I will go that route but if I end up going with a new one thats going to be the one I get. @zul32 Im hoping with the dd coil and narrower detection field I will be able to pick out the good stuff from among the trash, but for now just digging everything up to see what all is in the ground is quite entertaining. Are you in a rural area? even shooting in towns wasnt such a big deal just a few years back. I try not to shoot off anything bigger than a 22 so I dont bug the neighbors. Smiley

God, I keep forgetting the definition of Rural and Urban. Tongue
How about this - I have neighbors about 50 feet on both sides of me now. The neighbors homes behind our yard wasn't developed until the early 90's.
I heard that a lot of nickels show up in the pull-tab range (that's also the gold range), so for me I practically have to dig those up as well.

Go Up Go Down

my biggest gripe is roofing nails, they have a big round head and sound like a coin, that and they are galvanized so they dont show up as iron, they will usually waffle back and forth a bit but if I can get a good repeating signal I dig it up. so far Ive only pulled about 5-6 nickels and all have come in in the pull tab range but sound round (my detector more often than not gives a bup..beep when I hit a round object) but as soon as I get rid of all the nails I can see what else is left. I think most of the roofing nails are from about 20 years ago and they mask out any other signals nearby.

My definition goes something like If I can throw a rock and hit more than one house the neighbors are too close : ) Or when I lived in the city if the neighbors music is bouncing the pictures off your walls they are too close (I was ever sooo happy to get away from them)

Love that Wrench.   Reminds me of the ones you got with the Motor Cycle tool Kits.
