Thanks for the comment on the videos.  Glad you liked them.  I'm hoping to add more soon but with the rain Saturday it just wasn't a good time to try for video.

The plan of two dreams at the same time sounds like it would be a exciting one for you.

Lord Dracon

Thanks for the comment.

Dr. Detect

If the Butterfly has gold content to it I would say that it is just Gold plated as it looks like the finish was coming off slightly on one of the wing tips.  Thanks for the comments.

You did in deed come up with a good day detecting. talking about the whites...it was my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th detector in the many years I've detected. I can tell you I have not found anything of greater value today with what I use now than I found using those detectors back than. I do wish now 25 years later I still had that whites hip mount! I remember the day I got it and how much  relief my arm was going to get after swinging that older shoebox.

I can acry with you Cache, I,v also searched with the White,s MD,s namely the M6, the DFX, and the MXT, but they were on the end to havy for my arms (8 hours sweeping on a day, and that 5 times a week), so I had to find an MD that whas lichter in weicht.
I now using the Tesoro Cibola Modified, and have a back up MD that,s an Tesoro Cibola Hollandia.

Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 and MPX

Go Up Go Down

Thanks for the input stringfrenzy,

I have so many little questions that I will certainly PM you when I start to narrow my list of possible replacements.  I can say that at this point, Minelab and Whites are my top two but I know that there are a few other units that I should look into.

I also say a bounty hunter unit that I had not seen before.  It looks like a step up from the 505 but I doubt that it will meet my upgrade criteria.  I will not spend more than 1200.00 on a new unit so that in itself will narrow things down pretty well.

Also, I must ask if that merc that you found at nine inches had a consistent ID.  One of the things that I have learned is to take note of the depth reading on the 505 because the quality of a target's ID will go down when it gets close to the edge of the unit's depth range.

Thanks for the offer of advice,

  Len

Man, I have got to learn how to use my detector!
I've turned it on and here the different beeps as I pass over the grass.
When it says aluminum I forget it and keep looking. When it beeps again
and says gold 10" I don't trust it.  SUGGESTIONS??

Also Congrats on your finds, that must feel so good when you find ANYTHING!!!

Just dig everything ... you never know what you might find Wink Wink... if you know what is in the ground then you'll get a better idea of what your machine is trying to tell you. Its just like learning the specific whine of a cat, or a cry of a baby, letting you know when they are hungry, giving them something else won't shut them up - learning by association. In the end you might be able to distinguish whether they want crunchy kibbles or a biscuit.  (note: crunchy kibbles not suitable for babies Smiley )
Likewise, every bleep is like a foreign language until you understand what it means ... just listen carefully and you too can learn MD'ing bleep speak.  Grin Grin Grin

Detecting..... now what do you mean its a 14k gold ring ... looks like a lump of roofing lead to me!!! Mad
