Tri city ditty

If you're asking about the Barber that was found at around 9" by a Bounty Hunter I was not the one that found it.  I was however right there when it was recovered and no it was not a consistent signaluntil the plug was cut.  If I remember correctly it kind of bounced all over until after the ground was opened up.  Then it settled down and gave a more consistent reading.  I must also say though that the person that had found that Barber does understand his Bounty Hunter very well and has put quite a bit of time into learning what it is telling him. I look forward to any of the questions I can help with.

Just like Lord Dracon said.  Dig  everything.  Sometimes there is no better way to learn the detector than by hands on digging everything to learn what makes it do what.  Also by doing things this way you run across those neat and interesting finds that come from signals that you may not normally have dug.  Granted you may dig plenty of trash at first but sometimes you've got to be willing to dig the trash to find the good stuff.

Man, I have got to learn how to use my detector!
I've turned it on and here the different beeps as I pass over the grass.
When it says aluminum I forget it and keep looking. When it beeps again
and says gold 10" I don't trust it.  SUGGESTIONS??

Like they said.....dig EVERYTHING.    The way to learn your detector is to dig everything AND take notes---
1) what did the detector say (visual AND sound cues) ?
2) what did you expect (based on what the detector said and your previous experience)?
3) how deep did you expect it to be?
4) what was it actually and how deep was it really?

Do that for a while and you'll know.

Yes Sir StringFrenzy,

I have seen many barely in range targets clear up after being wishy washy ID's with the removal of dirt.  I have also started checking the depth readout on the BH505 when a target skips around the ID board.  I will dig them if it looks like they might be worth it.

I wish that I could dig up everything that beeps but the areas that I have been hunting in are pretty trashy.  I find myself forced to try to pick my targets the best that I can.  Even though I am sure that most every MD model shows these types of tendencies but it is still very good to hear from other BH users on these topics.

I have been planning to write a review of the BH505 soon.  I will most likely take my time by writing it on a word program and only posting it when I have written everything that I can think of.

From the land of the Bluenose.....is a lot of rain falling this month.  Nice scoff of assorted finds.  Keep the faith for the sun will make an appearance!

You are certainly right about the sun and I do hope that it starts showing more very soon. Grin
