Here we have a Roman fibel. It was used for fastening clothes. It is unfortunately missing its needle. Eitehr the needles got lost at one point when a farmer was plowing the field or it got lost back then 2000 years ago and its previous owner therefore had decided to throw it away.

About what depth did you find this at?  Are you having to dig very deep for your roman targets?  Nice find and thanks for sharing.

When detecting out in the farming fields you will sometimes even find those on top of the ground as the farming machinery keeps plowing the fields.

However when detecting out in the woods, those can be buried quite deep at over 15''. However the good thing is that they will be less likely to be damaged.
