Well Dean,
The only thing I know is that it's not any of the British crowns, so suspect it's euro for that reason. Looks like crossed maces below the crown.

Those are crossed cannon and the thing behind is a Hungarian Knot.
Looks like plated pot metal...Military buttons as a rule ( if they are plated) are brass or coper alloy as the plating sticks to it...
Could be a blazer button from some Navy Leage or something like that...the Crown is  Close to the type used by the Merchant Navy, as well as used on RN and RCN Ships crests. ( Collecters call it the "open Crown"  however the Navy ones had "sails" around the top of the Crown.

What is the metal it made of??
