Out on my roman field ,when up pops this SAXON GOLD COIN  Detecting Its a shilling 14mm across [small coin] 7th century .

Very nice find. Not only is it a beautiful coin, but since I've just finished the latest installment in Bernard Cornwell's Saxon stories, it was a fitting end to the read.
