Sounds like someone got there before you.
More likely more than one someone.

It can be easy to get discouraged when
you are involved in a hobby like this.

Seems like everybody else is findin tha
good stuff. I have been there.

I am one of the guys that does pretty
good now.

But it is not a bed of roses. You have
to like it. It has been two weeks sense
I have made a good find. I have been
detecting all but a couple of days in
that time and have recovered thousands
of targets. I have some clad and some
cheap jewelry, Etc. ,but nothing worth
mentioning.

But, the fact that I am sitting on about
$1,500 worth of scrap gold I am fixing to
sell, softens the frustration some.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Keep the faith, mate. The beach is absolutely huge in Hawaii. Always has been. It's also been heavily used and detected for years. Waikiki, for example, is blanket to blanket on some days. The following morning, at the crack of dawn, you'll see guys just going home with their headlamps on and full pouches. But I'll give you a tip here worth bottling. Sunset beach on the west shore of Oahu gets only light traffic and no detectorists. None. Zip. Zero. The traffic may be light but they've been going there for years and years. Hunt there and you won't be skunked.

If you're not on Oahu, try the same kind of beach where you are. Try the ones where the old die hard surfers go or the movie stars when they want privacy. If you go to the beaches that get used like a Los Angeles freeway, you're going to face stiff competition for virgin sand. Get away from it all. Relax and enjoy.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
