Shipwreck Silver.

Listed as to days find, this 8 Reale coin was encrusted in concretion and lifted from the sea bed a few weeks ago.
It is only today that the concretion has been broken up and within, is this very nice 8 Reale coin.
It still has a small piece of concretion on it, also embedded in it is a few pieces of lead shot.
All helps to authenticate that it is from a ship wreck.

Details.

Spanish 8 Reale.

Mint mark Mexico

Dated 1784.

Assayer F.M.

Viking/Capt.Bill.
The wreck site is situated off the Dorset Coast UK, in 10 to 30 ft depth close to the cliff face.
See piccie.

No actual wreck is left it has long been smashed to pieces and driven out to sea.
We find pockets of concretion, under and around boulders all located with metal detectors.
A lot of digging is involved.

Another interesting item came from the same piece of crud [concretion] was this gold pocket watch winder.
Measures just 15mm or 5/8th of an inch.
[See also pic] I know it is a winder because a few years ago we found a complete gold pocket watch,
that can be seen here.

Gold Watch

Still lots of artefacts to be found but its hard work and only seasonal. ie. Summer months and light winds.

Regards
Sabie.
