Hi Wolfy!  That's interesting - sounds likely.  Do you have to ask permission to detect on public property like a park and such?  Did you have to report what you found?  A lot of questions, but remember - I'm a complete beginner!  I hope you're right about there being more where you made your find!  Excellent thinking!  Debra

Hey there,
I've been to many parks in three different counties no problems so far I've had a couple of park employees
ask me to make sure I replace my plugs, other than that so far so good.
Thanks,
Wolfy

I intentionally go to an annual artsy/crafts fair in the park just to see where the jewelry tables are set up. After the event is over, I detect those areas. My favorite find is a silver insect - a little dinged up from being stepped on, but that's ok. Sue

Whether you can hunt in a park is going to vary from city to city and county to county (not to mention state by state).  It is important to know what the "official" rules and regs are for your area before you hunt (forewarned is forearmed as in the thread on the police said it was ok...).

for tips on how to find out if it is legal to hunt in parks in your area and whether you need a permit to do so.    If there is nothing in the ordinances, statutes, regulations, and rules that mentions metal detecting you should be ok as long as you don't break any of the other rules.

Foiled, I haven't tried PowWows yet. There is a much nicer art fair & PowWows at the Native U, here, than at the park. I've thought about asking if I could detect the grounds there, but haven't ever approached them. The state U, here, I've detected before - no problem. I just asked the campus cops - suppose it might be the same both places. Sue
