Greetings everyone! Weather has been pretty crappy here in the north, so didn't get out like I wanted to...BUT... I have several firsts to add to my rookie season of detecting. I finally dug my first gold ring! It's 10k and cleaned up pretty nice, small in size and lightweight, but still gold! Smiley
Also...my first Merc Dime! Cheesy I got such a rush when I first saw the backside in the hole! It was drizzling and I was about ready to call it quts. I found it in an area I've been pounding, large field area by the elementary school. Used to be farm land, but the school has been around for over 40 years. I've been digging coins and junk all summer, now I've gotta keep at it, hoping there may be more! It's a 1942....not the error dime, but still nice. I nicked it slightly, was in a hurry thinking it was just another clad. Another lesson learned!
Found a metal "nautical" button, could be old.
Have a look at the rest of my treasure  and hope everyone has a great week!

Rich Detecting

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

If you're landlocked or not able to hunt in water, the next best area for rings is around old trees with big shade canopies. The edges of sidewalks is also is also a steady producer of rings. Your odds improve with every target you dig.
