I spend some time checking with a magnifying glass the silver rings I found this month
sometimes they are marked as 925 sometimes as sterling or even as S
this little 0.9 gram silver colour looking ring was marked 9ct.
here are some pics before and after an acid bath.
lesson to be learned.
check your finds.
and never leave a gold ring in acid more than a few minutes as the solder joint it's not gold and will brake.

Why would you put a known silver ring in acid? Unlike gold, it tarnishes and may get pitted. For gold, only a drop anywhere will tell you if it's gold.

i didnt
i put it in acid after i show the 9ct stamp.
you can see on the first pic looks like silver.
it is very hard to clean it.
i used hydrochloric acid  to take the tarnish off.
i should only dip it in and take it off.
i should know better next time

Usually, silver coins and jewelry cleans very well by preparing a baking soda paste with a little bit of water. It is hard to tell from the pics. Nice rings though  Great
