Those are really cool.

Value is what it is worth to you.

I have some stuff that aint worth

nothin, but I would not sell it.

It is my treasure.

Maybe my most presious find

is my first watch. I found it

after it was lost for close to

50 years. Just a Timex.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

My question:-

Does it still run?

Hay Brian,

When I was around 10 years old, I traded a big coke
bottle for a Timex watch without a band..... I did not
have it for very long. Out of ignorance, I over would
the watch and broke tha main spring.

After that,

When I wound it, it would tick six times and stop.

I was bummed out. That was my first watch.. I was
with my best buddy at tha carnival at Fair Park. I
chunked my first watch into tha bushes and went
on.

I'm 60 years old now. I forgot all about tha watch.
The carnival is a parking lot now.

I was at Fair Park one day, and I was metal detecting
where they had cut down some old bushes. I found an
old watch. I wiped it off and tried to wind it.

{alt}

When I wound it,

it would tick six times and stop.{alt}

Now the spring has gotten caught on something and it
has started working again.

After 50 years in the ground,

and it fixed itself, {alt}

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Those carnival watches are a lot like the carnival glass that collect tabdog. At the time they were give aways and now they are very collectable.

MikeK ... I am so impressed with  your finds. The quality is so good.

I wish you continued success and thanks so much for taking the time post you photos.

Like they say "a photo speaks a thousand words"

Cheers,

Mike

Go Up Go Down

tabdog;

I could never wear Timex very long, I magnetized the balance spring, and my persperation ate the back. I had to use the pocket watch version, the Massey-Harris. You know.... clunkclunkclunk....  No no!

Your son looks like my cousin Laurie, a masculine version, of course, and like my mom....you ever have relatives in Kansas or Missouri?? Or any Willis ancestors? Curious. (My mom was a Keith. Keith, Willis, Gooding, Wyrick in one generation.) Our family is supposed to have some Cherokee, from several sources and my cousin, I mentioned, is also 1/4 Cree.

My kids are weird... my oldest son looks like a farmer from N.Ireland... skinny,long nose and chin, red hair... looks like his greatgrandpa who  was Irish. The other two look like me, or a big, fat blond Mohawk. (Mowhawk and Cherokee are close relatives.) I think you are very fortunate.

Anyhoo, My kids are all elsewhere, and only one, the red head, phones me on Dads Day.

Have you got him hooked on metal detecting, yet??  Funny

Goldigger (Brian)
