Hi all.

Just got back from a 5 day N.M. mountain hunt.  This area we hunted had extensive logging done in the early 1800s with quite a few folks making the surrounding area home.  I have not been out a day without seeing at least one old log cabin.  My Minelab was of course missing a cable I left in the closet 130 miles away from home!  I used my White's GMT which does not have a discriminate feature.  I was having a hard time looking at the 10 or so cabins where we camped with out being able to use my Minelab!  The cabins are from the early 1800s and I'm sure might have held a few good finds between them. The GMT was going nuts with all the old cans everywhere!  I finally had to get away from all the trash and hunt the surrounding hills. Oh well.....next time I will have a check list and NOT forget the cable!  We did have a blast camping and relaxing as well.
Here are my finds.

Good hunting all!                     Ironman

Them are some interesting looking iron/relics.  Them are a lot of stakes.  I just like finding anything old and holding it in my hand, wondering who was holding it before me said 100 years ago.  Interesting!! Wink Cheesy

Hello all,  thanks for the kudos!

metal inspector,  I agree holding your finds and wondering how they got to where they were found and the people behind them gets you thinking for sure!

capnrich,  tons of old spikes in the area and the car....bout 3 days of hard digging!!! just kidding.  The area is absolutely beautiful for camping and detecting.  Can't wait to go back.

Christian,  tons o iron!!  How do you think I got my name ironman!  The iron meteorites helped the name as well.  Gotta go back soon.

Tabdog,  I still can't believe I missed my battery cable!!!  Ouch that really hurt when I found out.  I hope it will be the first and last time I do that!!  That place is calling my name!  Oh, and its yelling Don't forget anything this time.  I bet there is some cool stuff waiting to be found other then iron.

I will be heading out with my grandson Zaya Sat to hunt meteorites.  I will post our finds if we have any luck.

Thanks again!                Ironman

Wow Ironman that's what I would call an exciting 5 days. Just being out there would be enough of a treat for me but to be digging up relics would be an extra bonus! Hope you can make it out there again sometime soon! Thanks for the great photos!

Eugene...Thanks! I will check around that old car next time I hunt the area.  Yup,full of bullet holes.

farmdigger...thanks for the kudos.  What do you think of this: a trip back out in late Sept when the Elk are screaming in the morning, detecting during the day and then a cooler full of beer in the company of a beautiful wife next to a roaring fire!  Oh, and the Elk will be screaming in the evening too.  A great trip...Yup!!!   Thanks all for the nice comments.

Ironman
