Yesterday I went to an old plantation site dating back to the 1700s. I found two spanish coins dating most likely in the 1700s. One was about the size of a quarter with a section
cut out of it and the other was the center of a coin with the perimeter cut off. Also I found
about eight mini balls and a completely worn out wheat penny. This same location produced
a 1793 flowing hair penny and other coins in that time era, about eight years ago. It's about a 500 acre farm so I have a lot of ground to cover. I hope to be able to post pictures in the near future.......John

Hi Mike.........I have a camera and some of the pictures on my computer. The problem I have is knowing exactly how to upload them to this web site. I'll be visiting one of my older sisters soon who I'm sure will know exactly what to do. I don't have a lot of background working with computers other than writing reports from my previous job.
Have a good day....John in VA

Hi Sharon......I did have a good time and am very fortunate to be able to hunt the place
I've been going to for about 20 years or so. There's still a lot of stuff there but deeper in the ground since they don't plow the land anymore. With the newer detectors new finds will come. The farm owner showed up while I was hunting, I showed him the finds, he was just happy to see them. I gave him a large intact grubbing hoe that was found, probably a
hundred years old or so. He was tickled to death about getting that piece. Have a good
day....John in Va..

John, when you have photos to upload, use the Reply button at the top of the post rather than the Quick Reply below the post. Or, if you select Quote, use the Preview feature which will put you into the full editor screen.

Below the text editor block at the bottom of that screen you will see a bold word Attachments: and a series of blocks where you can upload your images. Select Browse and add the image you want from your hard disk. Try to keep the images small because there is a limit of 1 Megabyte to the upload. If you need a convenient resizer for your images, go to the download section and download the free image resizer program I put there. It's a commercial program for which I own the distribution rights and offer it to members.

It's in Downloads, under Miscellaneous. Enjoy.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Wish me luck, I'm taking a friend with me to hunt a few tot lots and even try the boat docks at a few lakes around here.  The weather is getting cooler (50 this morning) and we are thinking it will not be as busy. (i hope).  I don't think I will find any Spanish coins, but deff a treasure to me.

Also, will be looking a camera's today as well... I think it is time to get into the swing of things here.  I have always been a SLR camera person, but it is time to get into the swing of things.  I hope to post my treasures with a new camera tonight.

Happy hunting!!!

SharenH
