That's It , I'm Mad.

Going to get me some gold dirt in the morning!  Ha!   Great

Close enough to be sure as to what they are rather than guessing. I think the only thing left is to determine the date now. At least on the bigger coin. Cannot even begin do see the smaller one enough to make a guess.

GoldDigger1950;

Im with homefire on this one, close is not good enough.

For the sake of argument, the castle looks like an eastern European castle, perhaps Vlad Dracul.

Is it coincidence that both Spain and England use lion motif?  Idea

Is it coincidence that both England and Spain (and several other countries) use DG, Dei Gratia??  Wise

If you look lower, on the page, at that coin site, you will see coins with BOTH western (Roman) and Arabic script, on-the-same-coin.   Great

I say take another look, you only have generalities.... Its got to be purrfect!  Funny

Of course it is good enough. He only wanted to identify them not valuate them. I stopped looking after I found an answer for him. Beyond that, it is up to the original poster to find his own, more specific, answers. Those coins were hand stamped by prison labor. Sometimes the obverse and reverse of the coins were not even stamped correctly - misaligned or whatever. Sometimes, when a die cracked, they would grab last years die and make a 400 year old error coin.

Go ahead and take something like that to a coin shop and you will be no closer to an answer than the one I found.

Absolutely right Homefire. The amount of stuff I had to wade through just to find the pictures kept me busy for an hour or so. First I searched for the lion crest, which should have been unique enough. Then I went for the castle but had to modify the search a lot. Finally, I added the term cob to the search and cob coins started showing up. Finally, there was one very similar to yours. In my research, I found that there are varieties within years of issue that make it nearly impossible to date without the date being visible. So, no date estimate.

these coins are not persian.
I am persian and it is not a mosque and the lion is not a persian symbol.
lions in persian symbols are seat and have a sun on their back. it seems the lion is a english symbol.
