Ray & AU judging from the looks of the spoon i would guess it's from the Tennessee centennial or bicentennial or it's a tourist spoon !! one of the 3 for sure. def not for daily use more for decoration

(what I found)
The Watson Co. was established in 1874 in Attleboro, Massachusetts and had showrooms in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. They are known for making sterling souvenir spoons, flatware, hollowware and glass mounted with silver. The Thomae Co was a division of The Watson Co. The top mark is that of a flag with an "H" in the center.

(what the guy sent me on it)

I believe you are correct about the mark being used by the Mechanics Sterling Company (division of the Watson & Newell Company). They also made a lot of souvenir spoons. This mark was used from 1896 to about 1920. The way of your lettering and spoons design I
would put your souvenir spoon as one of the earlier one produced.

TTN, way to go!

Karl, funny you should mention finding a spoon as well........I too found a spoon yesterday (seriously). I was poking around one of the community play grounds yesterday and dug one up near a bbq grill. Nothing special about my find though. Just an ordinary spoon.

How about that for coincidence.  Grin
