Go Up Go Down

Headed down to the big lake this morning to get a head start on a beautiful day Detecting
I think I'm going to start living down there :Smiley the coins are mostly new but abundant...as are the women in their jogging suits Tongue
The visibility was so good, I could see Mt. Baker as clear as if it was a mile away Cool
Got sunburned like a lobster, dug up 5 quarters(1-1966) 5 dimes, 32 pennies(8 copper).
I'm starting to make a habit of looking at dates as I dig, so I can try to learn where most of the older coins are turning up Wink
My next older quarter is going to be a 65 or silver...I can just feel it!

Hmm when u said Mount Baker I had to go look it up, did not realize it was also a Volcano !

Anway's here is part of what I found out interesting history on that mountain / Volcano

Mount Baker (Lummi: qwú’mə kwəlshéːn; Nooksack: kw’eq smaenit or kwelshán), also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an active[9] glaciated andesitic stratovolcano [4] in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States. It is the second-most active volcano in the range after Mount Saint Helens. About 31 miles (50 km)[10] due east of the city of Bellingham, Whatcom County, Mount Baker is the youngest volcano in the Mount Baker volcanic field.[5] While volcanism has persisted here for some 1.5 million years, the current glaciated cone is likely no more than 140,000 years old, and possibly no older than 80-90,000 years. Older volcanic edifices have mostly eroded away due to glaciation.

After Mount Rainier, Mount Baker is the most heavily glaciated of the Cascade Range volcanoes; the volume of snow and ice on Mount Baker (0.43 cubic miles or 1.8 cubic kilometers) is greater than that of all the other Cascades volcanoes (except Rainier) combined. It is also one of the snowiest places in the world; in 1999, Mount Baker Ski Area, located 14 km (8.4 mi) to the northeast, set the world record for recorded snowfall in a single season—1,140 inches (95 feet or about 30 meters).[11]

At 10,778 feet (3,285 m), it is the third-highest mountain in Washington State and the sixth-highest in the Cascade Range, if Little Tahoma Peak, a subpeak of Mount Rainier, is not counted.[4][12] Located in the Mount Baker Wilderness, it is visible from much of Greater Victoria, Greater Vancouver, and, to the south, from Seattle (and on clear days Tacoma) in Washington.

Go Up Go Down

Spent Sunday afternoon  Detecting on the lake shore trying to nab that first silver quarter.
Once again coming very close with a 1965 quarter!
Trying to get my discrimination skills honed so as not to spend so much time digging garbage.
Wish I had time to spend 8-12hrs a day!
Pictured is my entire 6hr dig...all trash included Smiley
Next time down there I'm snaggin a silver quarter. The countdown is due Great
Some of that trash scrimmed right to the end of the dial and had me completely fooled until I had it dug up...DARN TRASH Angry

Shot Baker today...not as clear as the day described above.
Same vantage point, zoomed full.
Had a disaster down there this morning...broke BOTH my digging tools! Angry
Had to call it quits after only 45min  No no!
