I had a sword like that given to me about twenty years ago, it was made in Italy or Spain and came with a vinyl backing shield that was a little bit longer than the sword and a little wider than the cross guard. They were (not seen one in years) not that expensive and were strictly wall hangers, the better ones were acid etched blades like yours. Mine was the cheap version.

Sorry for the delay all but wanted to wait until the voucher had been spent before uploading the video.  I'm also currently in the process of putting the sword and certificate into a display case.

Thanks for watching and HH!

Would be interested to read more then you posted on the story link.  Have you any idea if its authentic or the nature of where it came from? The metal does not look rusted at all for it to be buried a long time if in fact it was. What is it made out of ? Where did you find it, in the States somewhere or the U.K. or someplace ? I would have to say it is one of the most interesting pieces I have ever seen posted before and congrats to you on the find . Fight Clapp
