Bugar,

That is a nice ring and some coffee money to boot!  You can't beat that combo!  I thought I was the only one out in the cold!  I was in the mountains the last two Saturdays braving the cold as well.  I did not see a soul while I was out.  The ground is frozen which makes the digging extremely hard.  Treasures are still hiding under the frozen ground and waiting for us all!  Just gotta go get um!  Good hunting!

Congrats!!! I still haven't found my 1st ring, but will be going out this weekend.  It's going to be a cool one here in my part of Florida, but I can't wait any longer.
Happy Hunting and thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the encouragement.  I am going through withdraws here.  I haven't been MDing for a few weeks.  I just hope the weather is nice this weekend.  We are to have some sort of storm come through... I was hoping to go to some of the high schools on Sunday.  I don't mind the cold, but not when it is mixed with rain.

Good luck with snow and frozen ground... I am orig from New Jersey, and remember it well. Take care and keep warm...

Oh, Sharen, I share your pain! We had 6 weeks of almost non stop rain here in the colder months which made detecting miserable but not impossible. The thing to do then is begin research for your summer months. Keep your eyes peeled here because I will be posting another of my Random Thoughts that deals with research very soon. I write them in Word, export as text and post here. Another day or two and you can be a researching fool, all the while dreaming of swinging your loop across the areas you find!

Thank you!!! Here in my part of the state, we really don't get much cold weather.  But when we do, it comes with the rains first... And the damp cold is not something I can deal with.

I'm already planning my "good weather" Detecting Time now!  My husband has started asking me when we will be going out again, I even bought him a pin pointer also.  (He kept on asking me for mine) He has even started looking up Metal Detectors on the Internet to see what all is out there.  We will be going to the Keys again in the next month or so... I hope to find many treasures and memories there.

I have enjoyed your knowledge and information.  I will wait patiently for your post.  I am ready and willing to FIND MY FIRST RING!!!  I will make you all proud!

SharenH

Go Up Go Down

I was out this morning on a beach called Mashes Sands in North Florida. I caught the tide out but didn't find much. I didn't start finding rings very much until I recently left my metered Garrett at home and started using my little Tesoro Silver Saber II with no meter. I dig a lot more junk but do manage to find a ring or other small jewelry now and then. I set the discrimination at about 4 to eliminate false signals from the black sand.
