Go Up Go Down

Hello, Here are the things I found in a vacant lot near where a store was built in 1870 (minus the padlock and the junior police badge, that I found the other day). I would like to get some idea on dates. I know the lock is fairly old but no real dates as of yet. The button seems pretty old but I haven't researched it yet. I'm fairly sure the silverware is sterling (it was a strong quarter signal every time). I'm hoping to find some old coins as I still have a good 6-7 hours of hunting to do on the lot (I've been there 5 hours so far).
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks, S.  Smiley

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the responses. Here are some better pics of some of the items. The button is still hard to see. I found the same brass button online, backmark reads: "P.B. CO. patented in 1924. Mine reads "P.B. CO. pat. applied for". Mine may be older as there was not yet a patent, or patent pending. Does this sound feasible? I'm just trying to see how old some coins may possibly be on this lot, by dating some of these items. Hopefully the better pics will help. Thanks for any input. S

Form the look of the lock, I am think the 20's would be close to the right time frame

Slaymaker started making locks in 1888 I think and started putting the key opening in bottom instead of side around 1913 so Edric date of the 20's is on the mark.

Hi Atomicsocal,
Are you using the "macro" on your camera? you can get even better pix if you do.
The Police badge looks interesting I don't know if you can straighten it without braking so we could get a good look at it.......HH....Johnnn

Thanks for the tip johnnn. I can only seem to find a "museum" setting on my camera, not macro. I used museum, as that's all i could find. The police badge is broke in half. It is a 'junior police toy badge'. I've seen one online, but no date. There is a rivet (stud) that goes through the lettering on 'junior'. The stud is part of the pin on the back of the badge. Seems like a crude way to attach the pin to the badge. I've seen another example of the same design, but with no stud on the front. BTW, it rang as nickel on the F2. I'm definitely going back there and digging EVERY signal now! Thanks again, S
