Nice Liberty nickel find  Grin.  Does the date read 1897?  Are those scratches on its reverse?

Thanks for clarifying.  For me, the park where that Liberty nickel was found would definitely be on my list of return destinations.  Not knowing anything more about the park, the find would indicate to me that the site shows a propensity to contain other coinage from the classical coinage era  Smiley  Shocked
