Go Up Go Down

Just returned from a business trip to San Diego California and was able to bring my MD along   Cheesy
My first visit was to Coronado Beach, sugar soft sand and very little found around some volleyball courts and trash bins.
I wonder if they rake the sand, all that I did find (1Q1D3P) was newish with little corrosion.
I did not get a chance to go near the water's edge because it was dark and I did not feel like getting wet.
Went by Waterfront park, but it was full of tents getting ready for a boat show, and was almost all fenced off.
The following night I visited Point Loma Community park that had 3 ball fields and a concession stand.
I spent a little over an hour and before the mosquitoes came out and ran me off, picked up enough clad for a Quota!
I keep asking BlueNoser what a quota is, so I am just guessing.
Thanks for looking.  HH Robroy59

Bluenoser has set his quota at 50 coins.   You can set your own quota at whatever you feel comfortable with as a daily goal.

Thanks for the info BA, good to know.
A 50 coin quota would require that I spend significantly more time that I have been allowing.
It will provide me a challenge, something I always enjoy.

Along the southern beaches is a beach known as the Silver Strand. The name comes from the tiny pieces of silver wire that is found there occasionally. The wire is stranded so you can tell it from sparklers. They come from a 1700s shipwreck where silver in rolls of wire sank during a ferocious storm and broke up at the 4 mile barrier reef. The silver washes up every now and again for beachcombers.

If you have time for a little gold panning, you can get a ounce or more over a weekend just north of Dog Beach in Old Ocean Beach. The mouth of the canal is very shallow water. You can stand there, pan the sand and get flour gold. At low tide, you can use a beach chair and work about 3 hours in waist deep water. That canal travels the entire length of the Borrego Desert and dumps there.

Hi RobRoy,

I would say that a little over $.16 per coin is a good turn around unless it took more than a couple of hours to find them. I get a lot more coins, but per coin value is less because my dime count is about 2 to 3 times my quarter count. Keep on digging and HH

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
