You and this hobby are going to get along just fine, my first find many years ago was a piece of 1" gas pipe (very rusty), but its all been good.

Nice finds.  I just got a detector from my girlfriends father - uh, I'm not young...  and the circumstances were odd - and just started playing with it a couple days ago.  Learning how to use the thing has taken some of my time; a pin pointer arrived today and that has made it a lot easier to not dig fox holes and not finding the items.  But, today I found a penny and a dime - both recent, but it's a start, and it is a lot of fun so far, even with digging up trash a good portion of the time.

The torture looking device is a flow control device used on rubber tubing, they are often found these days on fish tank air pumps to speed up or slow down the airflow, however in older times they were also used to control the flow on thing's such as IV lines in the medical industry. i must say you guy's all seem to have some amazing finds.
