Hi guys,..could anyone shed some light on this lump of metal found on the river bank just after a large melt water surge on the Ruhr...it`s quite heavy @ 41 grams,..it looks beautiful under magnification it has gold colour flecks throughout and in some places iridescent purple can be seen.
Many Thanks,
Andrew.

something got WAY too close to the heat.......
given where you found it and what all has occurred in that area, it could be just about anything including the remains of a metalscrap bin or an electronics work area after an allied bombing raid.
If you really want to know what it is, you could do a chemical analysis of the metal(s), but that would destroy at least part of it.

Were it mine, I would be tempted to have a chemical analysis run.    I would just have to know what's in the lump.
