Christian,
The story behind the tree is, this is one of the many trees Len Beadell blazed while constructing the Gunbarrel Hwy through Central Australia back in 1957, from the Giles Weather Station in the East through too Wiluna futher West.
A very interesting book by Len Beadell- "Too long in the bush", is worth getting hold of, reading about the hardships he and his road builders encountered in the sometimes hostile outback of Australia.
Regards

Peter

Hello Peter,

thanks for letting me know.

Well, while I was staying with my family in Cairns I have allready noticed that most of the Australian enviornment is much much more hostile than it is in Europe. However interesingly my brother almost got bidden by a spider last time we were detecting a field. Due to the global heating up of our cilamte this spider made its way for Spain to Germany ...

Best wishes,

Christian

Morning folks,
Gold collected in Western Australia using the Minelab Metal Detector.
Getting harder to find, but sure enjoy the search and getting away to the outback goldfields.
Cheers
Nightjar

Hello members,
Haven't been here for a long time however the detecting has not stopped and have included a few new pics to keep you wishing you were in the "Land Down Under."
Ugraded to the Minelab GPX-4500 in December 2008, this machine runs extremely stable hooked up to the 20" Super Light- Nugget Finder Mono coil.

The forum sure is cranking along over 4000 posts since I was here last....

Welcome back to the forum! Those chunks of gold are impressive! Wish they could be found like that in the Midwest!  Cheesy
