Hello Goldigger,
As mentioned above the detector is a Minelab/ GPX-4500  and the majority of the gold was found using a Nugget Finder/ Super Light 20" round Mono Coil. Other coils used were a 16" NF/SL round mono and the Minelab 11" round mono.
The gold was found in depths ranging between surface and 16" deep.

Cheers
Peter

I guess I missed it.... looking at the gold.... whaddayou expect?  Grin Grin

I watched some videos on youtube (I think that was it,) of 2 to 4 oz nuggets coming out of the ground and it looked like the same detector but an oval loop.  Kiss

I was also taking in the rocks on the ground.... very odd, and nothing like that here, that I have ever seen, even in BC dry country. I like to look at everything I can see when watching a video like that. You never know....  Shocked

I have a question, do you ever find agates? On the surface of course, anywhere or near to where you are finding nuggets. The reason for asking is a possible hydrothermal connection. I have already connected a thunder-egg occurrence to one gold mine, so I am looking for more "coincidences."

There may be nothing to it, if you are not a rock hound and do not recognize agates, it will mean nothing..... yet.... I am curious.

You see, I got a germ of a theory a few days ago!  Grin Grin

Now that pile is some thing to look at! Minelab equipment is looking to be a good investment though expensive! Congratulations mate!

Morning Goldigger,
Your quote:
There may be nothing to it, if you are not a rock hound and do not recognize agates, it will mean nothing..... yet.... I am curious.

The answer is no, have never found agates in gold bearing ground. However there is one phenomenon that no one has been able to explain.
During our search for gold we have walked over low mounds of rocks, approximately 2metres in diameter. These rocks are not found in surrounding West Australian geology. Collectively they give off a strong signal when the detector is waved over them. Individually they do not give off a signal and are not magnetic however are quite light.
We tried digging out one pile but gave up after one metre. They almost appear to be pipes thrusting up through the bedrock.
We commonly call them mini volcanoes or pipes and we usually find gold in close proximatey, to date no one has been able to positively identify them.
Maybe you or your rockhound friend can?
