detecting today in the feild by my house and i got a good signal i dug about a foot down and i thought it was a coin but it was a  shotgun shell it looked old so i cleaned it off and did some research but came up with nothing it says

It was made by the I.F.S Co.  AKA International Flare Signal Co. They were made both in the US and Canada.  Without a picture it is hard to date. Sorry

I think they made shot cartridges as well but can't seem to find much on it.

Can't remember all the details but think they started making flares in the US but only lasted a few years then started making shotgun shells not sure when they opened the Canada factory

Thaks for the help guys but i talked to Redrain22 and he said they were a gift from england and they're late 1800's and very early 1900's

I don't know w/o a photo.

My father was making his shotgun shells in the 70's and 80's and he used Imperial 12 guage.
