It has been raining intermittantly all day long today. I have not swept my back yard and want to give it a go between the rain drops! I am wondering how many of you have detected your back yards and what you found there?

Right now, in my back yard, is more than a foot of snow. I eagerly await spring.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Well I have found all mannor of interesting thing in my back yard.  Coins: the only silver coin a Six Pence from 1917 , a Honduran coin that I forgot the date 19 80's,  some clad, copper and zinc penneys.  A pliers, a masons chisel, a bucket_of dirt, a piece of silver ore.  My water pipe lots of aluminum foil, battle caps, pull tabs, nails....Copper wire, copper tube and  brass fittings.

So I found things used during the construction of my home and things others dropped along the way.  Not sure how the Six Pence fits in but their were children here when it was first occupied in 1959 so possibly it came from  then.  Interestingly no Mexican coins so far, I live in Tucson, AZ.

The first house I lived in was the oldest I have lived in.  I got into treasure hunting and metal detecting while I lived there.  I uncovered a garbage pit dating from the late 1880's, when the railroad was built through town.  I found old bottles and artifacts from there.  I also discovered old whiskey and wine bottles  and a wooden pull truck under the back porch.  Indian head pennies and wheat back pennies were found in the yard, also.  Many good things were found in my yard!     Wise

Mostly tools that I lost in the garden, lots of nails and electrical terminals. Toy cars and tractors and clay marbles in the tailings. Several 1940s vintage pennies.

I am in my back yard right now standing behind the snow blower and an 11" snow!!!  instead of the detector!! Wink  I lost my wedding ring in the back yard and after hunting several hours gave up. I always hit the yard when I have a few moments so spare and one day 5 years later found the ring!

The first thing I detected when I received my very first MD, a Bounty Hunter Tracker-IV, was my front yard. I found about 72 cents and some pull-tabs (my first ones too  Cheesy). My backyard was less giving with less than 35 cents and yes, lots of junk. Each time I got a new MD, I passed them over the front and backyards. More coins appeared on the front, but nothing else on the back. Now, there is no backyard for I built a two-car garage  Cry
