Go Up Go Down

Dusted some cobwebs from the MXT yesterday, went out with a fellow detectorist and came home with over $70 between us.

My take: $44.40 clad
             one 1951 Penny
             one 1921 Half Penny
            silver bracelet

Veg.

Enjoyed looking at your finds - is that a turtle near the top? Off to a good spring start - congrats.

That's a really nice spread of coins there. Well done!

Out of curiosity, why do you call modern Australian coinage "clad" coins? They've always been either pre-decimal or modern coins to me. Clad refers to the US coins which are copper clad with a layer of nickel. They have a distinct look to them edge on where you can actually see the copper sandwiched by the two layers of nickel. The coins here are solid - without a core.

I'm only asking because I am an American living in Australia. I might just learn something about the coins here.

Looks like that MXT works pretty good!

I just put a 4x6 DD coil on mine Saturday afternoon.  Went back to a place I had hunted and found coins before.  After 5 hours I found 108 coins (amongst the trash) all newer but one was a Brasil 1 Real.  Since I am in New Hampshire the Brasil coin was quite a surprise!.

Oh, man, I know the feeling. Getting old hurts sometimes. If I take a week off and go out detecting, I hurt for days. My muscles have Alzheimers. The forget what they're supposed to do for me.

Yes... you are correct... maybe I should have called these coins decimal, or.......
composite perhaps instead of clad, my bad.
