It is a live round, Copper tipped Nickle wrapped projectile.
Shell intact firing cap intact.
DM / 43   (50 Cal)
Found point down, 2" deep.
I will have it rendered harmless so I can give it to a friend.
I am aware of the unstable nature of found munitions.
Thanks to all for your input.
I have found these before, on more than one occasion.

Some detectorists do not care if a sign says "Private property no trespassing".

Cool shell but I want to get back on topic for a minute and rant a little.

A small percentage of people are making it hard for the rest of us, by not asking permission to hunt private property, by leaving holes, by night hawking. Just this last month I got a letter from the owners of a property that I have had permission to hunt for 5 years. Its an old dump from the late 1800's now because of some $$$$$$$  sneaking in at night and leaving big holes everyone is locked out.
Every year in Jan. or Feb I get a call from a friend that is on the city council and the city park board about holes and damage done to the historical parks by newbies. Every 2 or 3 years a councilman  will try to get a rule pasted that would stop detecting in city parks. So far they have not been able to pass it but its only a matter of time. The regulars here don't care saying they don't hunt the old parks anyway they just hunt the beach. What they can't seem to understand is that the park board controls the beach's if the rule pass its only a matter of time till there will be no hunting on the island. All because of a few folks that have zero consideration for others.

Most folks that know me know I hunt alone and if water or beach hunting usually at night when few people are around. But regardless where I am hunting 10 min's after I am gone you can't tell I was ever there.
I know that most members here are good hunters covering their holes and picking up trash. But we need to spread the word to the 1000's of hunters that are not here about the do's and don'ts .

Amen Brother Seldom !! Round here the battel fields are hit by night stalkers, esp over in the Franklin area etc, and it gives us all Bad Names !

TN has had legislation in the past to ban MD'ing state wide , because of people night stalking / hawking  ,,, and creating a mess. Luckily it has failed each time, All of us need to keep an eye out for these people , and correct those that are not breaking laws and report those who are.
