Thanks for the encouragement!
The place did look a lot different in the past.  The kitchen was out behind where the main house is, but I am not sure where.  I am looking for some old pictures to better locate structures

This is getting real habit forming, but i like it. The more ideas we have the more we learn about this sport, yes i believe this is a sport.

No matter how long you do this there is much to learn , i think that is what makes it so interesting and exciting. As everyone says practice is the most important thing you can do. It's funny when everything you do some how comes back to THing, go on a trip and you are looking for places to hunt.

Good luck on your finds

Yes, keep going over the turf. You're going to pull silver, no doubt. Along sidewalks or stone walkways. Check near where cars park, or used to. Check straight trajectories between house entrances and mail box, driveway, outbuildings, etc. Report back with your coin finds :-)

Super cool.  I've got a hunk of land that I bought from the estate of an old depression era fellow.  I'm learning a lot while reading this site about how those people thought and where they might stash stuff.  It's intruiging as all get out.  I already found an underground site that was right there in the pole barn beside my house.  3 foot square hole in a concrete floor leading to a 12'x12'x6' room.  The entrance was covered up by years of debris.  Not much to tell what the room was used for, other than a few old coils of copper and some rotten barrels, but I'm fairly certain they made moonshine down there.  Got a lot of clean up to do before I can do any real searching for anything of value.  You can't get within five feet of the place without the metal detector screaming it's brains out due to all the clutter in the hole.  Nails, barrel hoops, etc... a detectorists nightmare.

Bigwater, sounds like an interesting place to MD. May have to do some clean up....what the heck, may hit paydirt afterwards. Silver is probably still where they dropped it. Good luck !
