Nice coin - 1830 is a real oldie! Looks like someone might have worn it. Sue

Hey, bugfly......now that we have a nice sharp picture of the Hammond Turner & Sons button, I've done some digging around.  I'm pretty sure Johnnn is correct in saying that it is a livery button (worn on the uniforms of the household and coach staff).   I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I'm pretty sure that if you go to the library and dig around in an Ordinary of Arms, you'll be able to tell whether I'm right or not pretty quickly.   Except for the motto (which I'm having a hard time reading) and it may be a personal motto rather than the family motto, I'd say the employer was a member of the Scudamore-Stanhope family----possibly associated with Stanwell House in Middlesex
