Go Up Go Down

Weathers cooling off its time to go THunting in NM.  There was a pre-WWI military camp here in this ghost town where I live, and the crossed sabre decoration was one of the items I dug yesterday.  Its the nicest decoration yet.  Lots of militaria and leftovers from cantinas and brothels.  Interesting site, and some decent coins too occasionally.

The bottom pix is another find from a year or so ago I just got I.D. on just last night:

The (Pancho Villa Punitive Expedition) expedition bogged down due to its lack of success, tension with Mexican officials and citizens, and the attraction of liquor that was provided by cantinas that remained open all night to provide service to the thirsty soldiers. Another salient feature of the campaign was the regulated brothel operated under official auspices as the "Remount Station," with the rate per copulation set at $2. A prophylactic was issued to each man upon his admission to the precincts, to prevent sexually transmitted infection among the troops...

Forgot t mention that the insignia is worn on a Hat...I have seen peole try to pass these off as US Civil War..but during that period the numbers, letter and swords were seperate...also the swords werent' as well made and were a bit cruder.
