Go Up Go Down

Well, got out for a bit today with the Land Star...Just got it back from First Texas where they replaced the battery clips, battery door, full face plate, and the DISC knob (at no charge again)...It was still falsing a LOT with the 8" coil...4" coil was not so noisy...Got home and checked the batteries and found them to be down to 8.4 Volts, and 8.2 Volts...Not sure at what voltage the detector becomes unstable, but will try again this weekend with fully charged NiMh batteries (9.12 Volts each)...Here is my take before I gave up and had to go home...

{alt}
large object is Lead slag, anyone know what the tree thingy might be?  It has 3 tabs on the back that might have been for mounting on something. Apears to be brass or copper..Huh??

Congratulations on your finds. You should be doing okay from 6 - 12 V. Over 8V sure is still good. Trying turning down your sensitivity a bit.

Regards,

Christian

Hello . The 4 inch coil might be a DD coil ? Thats why it is more stable in bad soil . It seems over the last several years , Bounty Hunter only likes to manufacture the 8 or 10 inch open concentric search coils ,and maybe that is their big downfall . I searched the internet and so far I did not see any new big DD widescan coils [option] available for any Time Ranger , Land Ranger or Land Star ? We already know those concentric coils are the reason for chatter problems on a salty beach .
Any one else is welcome to comment .
HH...... Great.......Eugene

I had a BH QD II.

I would have been very happy to reduce the chatter.
To get depth in the disc mode, I had to put up with
constant chatter.

I got a Garrett GTAx 500 and had the same problem.
After I sold that, I found out that I could have set tha
ground balance internally to reduce the noise. But, with
both the GTAx 500 and the BH QD II, I may have done
better with a DD coil.

When I learned about GBing and what machines are
lightest and likes gold jewelry, I got stuck on Tesoro Huh?

I still have never used a DD coil.
