Got out for about two hours yesterday afternoon. The park I detected is one that gets hit a bunch. The curtain climbers are always re-seeding the park.

Way to go James. Clapp
Nice to see you getting a larger percentage of nickel clad instead of them copper clad pennies. Out here in Arizona, the clad pennies start eroding right away and small holes appear in the copper which exposes the zinc inside to a form of ferric acid in the soil. The acid comes from a mixture of ferrous oxide, water and calcium/magnesium sulfide. The mixture forms blisters on the surface and if you try to clean them they keep on eroding and turn the pennies black in a few minutes. I just take those to the junk yard and sell them as mixed copper. The nickel clads will clean very well in a white vinegar/ salt solution in a shaker container, or you can use a wet tumbler.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.
