What a great day you two had! I'm happy my 26yo son enjoys this great hobby as well as my 13yo grandson.
Sharing this with your grandson sure brings a smile to my face...life's little pleasures, huh! Smiley

Thank you

Sorry for the late response.

Eugene...thanks, we look forward to the cold hunting days!  We hunt until the ground freezes and we just can't dig anymore!

jamjars... thank you.  It is an iron pallasite meteorite.  Very rare as they only make up a little less than 2% of the worlds falls!  We usually find the iron siderites with no olivine with a few pallasites now and then.

bluenoser...thank you my friend and good hunting to ya!

barrie....thank you for the kind words.

capnrich....life's great pleasures for sure.  I am glad both your son and grandson both enjoy going out and hunting with you.  Sure makes for some good memories!  Thank you my friend!

NSC....thanks!  Yeah it looks like a lizard...kinda.

Ironman and Zaya Z-man

I feel the onset of another detectorist being born. Well done, Bugar. Your work here is almost done.

Deuceman,   thanks for the kudos.  Hunt hard!  It's only a matter of time before you make your first find!

Bugar,   Hello!  how are you?  You are very welcome my friend!  I look forward to hunting with you when you make it back to New Mexico.  Just let me know when you are ready.  You really have a sweet collection!!  The pics are great as well.  Thanks for displaying the meteorites with your collection.  I appreciate it.   Looks like the world traveler has a good eye for tresures of all kinds! A good thing!
Take care and good hunting to you!

GoldDigger1950,  Zaya is a great detectorist and meteorite hunter.  He has been going out with me for years and has grabbed my detector since he was a little tyke.  Soon turning 10!  He loves the hunt!

Sammygirl,   hello,  thanks for the kind words.  I know for a fact that these are siderite and pallasite meteorites.  I have studied them for years and have hunted for them here in N.M. in a known strewnfield.  We also find pieces of metal from an old battlefield.  When I get some time I will post a few pics on the meteorite board of both meteorites and what we call meteorwrongs.  If you take a close look at my avatar you will see an olivine crystal in it.  Slag and other earth metals do not contain olivine.  You can also look up siderite and pallasite meteorites on the web for more information.

Thanks all!     Good hunting!!

Dean
