Go Up Go Down

Hi All,
Haven't posted for a while as I do not detect during the summer months due to heat and bugs, I'm not afraid of them but here its pretty bad so things get put on hold till Fall.

Anyway some of you may remember a year or so ago I was "given" a bunch of Masonic medals, and in March I inherited my uncles medals, and now I have been given two sets of medals from a guy I hardly know, he promised them to me sometime ago, and yesterday he delivered them to me I have taken pix of them for your viewing.
They are Father and son medals, the son was killed in France in 1944 the father was in the WW1 era, there are no more family left to look after them as they have all passed on, the guy who gave them to me is the best friend of the owner who also passed on.
So I get to be the guardian till I can find a suitable place for them.
Enjoy, close ups if anyone is interested ....HH,,,,Johnnn

Hi DJP,
The medal with the purple ribon is an award to the mother of the dead soldier it comes with a sad little letter thanking her for her sons sacrifice and acknologing his bravery, the medal is silver I also have the letter but did not scan it as there is personal info attached to it, she received the medals in 1949 "they"are not engraved with his name but her medal is.
It seems the father survived the first war but their only son perished in the second...............Johnnn

Hi seldom,
I,m still here and look in quite often to see what is going on, cant get any cool weather to get out, may try a local park as I haven't hunted one for many years.
The medals were a surprise so I thought I'd share this little story just for interest,
The guy who gave me these did mention some others but he hasn't cleared all the remaining boxes of stuff from the estate have to see what happens.....HH..Johnnn
